First update, more to come


It took a while to take the original jam game and transform it into a sustainable project. Many evenings of tweaking the design, refactoring, and fixing so many bugs and it's finally at a place that I'm happy with.

Overview of what's new!

  • Updated artwork, menus and UI, including a level selection menu.
  • Sprout your sapling from a seed at the start of every level.
  • Sunlight is more consistent and predictable, no longer shrinking over time and disappearing. Sunlit leaves will stay sunlight for the duration of a level (for now at least
  • Sapling consumes energy on an interval based on how large it's grown providing a clear game over state if your run has failed.
  • Improved controls to fix the jank experienced in the jam version. Much smoother now.
  • 5 new levels including a new tutorial level.
  • Best level times are saved and stats at the end of each level.

There is more to come as I'm happy to keep working on this project. There is just something I find really fun about the core interaction. Thanks to all the refactoring and tooling, it'll be a lot easier to create content going forward. The game still feels lacking in depth but I have plans that will address this as the game expands.

On the horizon...

  • 5+ new levels before the end of the year.
  • New biomes with additional mechanics.
  • Collectibles and secrets.
  • Settings and accessibility support.
  • Light storytelling.
  • Mobile support and priority.
